Through my work as a nursing educator and active clinician, I intend to foster collaboration of the two spaces personally. I hope to use my lens in both dimensions to understand the needs of our new generation of nurses, while also fostering the space within practice to support the growth of our workforce and support healthcare needs of residents.

DIRECTOR

Justin Drew, MSN, RN, NEA-BC, FAONL
Vice President, Ambulatory & Clinical Services, Middlesex Health

Justin the Vice President of Ambulatory and Clinical Services at Middlesex Health in Middletown Connecticut.  This role includes oversight of departments such as the Cancer Center, Radiology, Laboratory, Rehabilitation services, and Homecare, to highlight a few.  Justin is a recent past President of the Organization of Nurse Leaders (ONL).  His healthcare leadership is strongly infused with the principles of shared governance and nurse autonomy that he has helped promote over his 16 year tenure at Middlesex Health, which is a 5 time designated Magnet facility.  Additionally, the elements of strength based leadership, and appreciative inquiry have large influences on his leadership style.
As a Board member, how can you contribute to the mission of CCNW which is to foster collaborations to ensure a highly educated, diverse, and sustainable nursing workforce to support the healthcare needs of CT residents?

I believe that one of my strengths as a leader is big picture thinking as it pertains to opportunities and challenges.  In the space of workforce development in CT, I oversee many areas that employ nurses, but in addition I have insights into other healthcare related roles in Radiology, Laboratory, Cancer Centers and more.  Because nursing represents the largest single role in healthcare in the Unites States, the profession often times leads the way as far as the educational and clinical preparation and transition to workforce.  However, there are always lessons to be learned from other segments of the healthcare workforce.  Finally, I have leadership experience in the development of a DEI Task Force and DEIB Nursing Toolkit through the Organization of Nurse Leaders.
