​Maureen Terese McCarthy, PhD is the Executive Director of the Office of Research and Sponsored Programs at Quinnipiac University, where she is responsible for developing integrated support services for sponsored programs, faculty and student research, and scholarship activity across the university’s nine schools. Before joining Quinnipiac University in 2019, she worked on national education and workforce initiatives at the Council of Graduate Schools in Washington, DC.
 
In addition to her role at Quinnipiac, Maureen owns Verdance Consulting, a practice that supports small nonprofits in enhancing their operations and fundraising efforts, and serves on the Board of Auburn Theological Seminary. She is an active member of the National Council of University Research Administrators (NCURA).
 
Maureen holds a PhD and an MA in English from Emory University, as well as a BA in English and American Studies from Ursinus College.

Chlo-Anne is a highly skilled and passionate nursing professional with extensive experience in school health and student services. With a Master of Science in Nursing in Community and Public Health from the University of Hartford and a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Arkansas State University, Chlo-Anne has built a career centered around improving student well-being across Connecticut’s public and non-public schools. As the Education Manager for School Nursing and Family Support Services at the Connecticut State Department of Education, Chlo-Anne leads initiatives that support school health and student services across the state, working closely with state and federal agencies.
 
In addition to her managerial expertise, Chlo-Anne brings a strong commitment to promoting positive school climates, supporting justice-involved youth, and fostering comprehensive educational and health support systems for students across Connecticut.  Chlo-Anne is passionate about the diverse opportunities available to nurses across various specialties and advocates for their presence at the leadership table, while also championing the pursuit of successful and rewarding careers in nursing.

Dr. Tina Loarte-Rodriguez has over eighteen years of nursing experience in various healthcare settings and specialties. A first-generation college graduate, she is a graduate of Cornell University, the University of Connecticut, and Quinnipiac University. A perpetual learner passionate about innovation, health equity, and advocacy, she completed the American Nurses Association’s Innovation Accelerator Program in 2023 and is a 2023-2024 Fellow of the American Nurses Advocacy Institute. Tina knows nurses are highly skilled professionals and belong everywhere decisions about people are made.   
  
Dr. Loarte-Rodriguez is a 2021 Hartford Business Journal Healthcare Hero Award winner. She also led her nursing team to win the 2021 Connecticut Nurses Association Excellence in Team Award. She is active with the National Association of Hispanic Nurses (NAHN), the Connecticut Nurses Association (CNA), and DNPs of Color (DOCs). Tina has published several works, including her recent book, Latinas In Nursing, the first anthology celebrating the journeys of fifteen Latina nurses across the United States.  Tina works hard, and she plays even harder. She loves dancing, traveling, and reading. An Afro-Latina Boricua (Puerto Rican), born and raised in the Bronx, NY.

Sherylyn Watson, PhD, MSN, RN, CNE has been a registered nurse for 25 years in Connecticut.  Shery is currently working at Iona University in New York, as Director of Nursing, Associate Professor, and Associate Dean for the New York-Presbyterian Iona School of Health Sciences. Shery has held leadership positions in academia and in service. Shery has published and presented on nursing education, nursing leadership, and global nursing and healthcare. She has been a volunteer international nurse since 2000 and has developed clinical mission programs and study abroad experiences for nursing students in all degree levels for 12+ years.  She currently serves as the CT Nurses’ Association representative for the CT SAFE Advisory Committee and on the CT State DOJ Commission on the Standardization of Collection of Evidence for Sexual Assault Investigations. Shery has served on the Board of the CT League for Nursing from 2018-2022 and has served as the secretary for CCNW in 2022-2023. 
As a Board member, how can you contribute to the mission of CCNW which is to foster collaborations to ensure a highly educated, diverse, and sustainable nursing workforce to support the healthcare needs of CT residents? 

​I feel privileged to serve as the Board Chair for the CCNW and contribute to the CCNW’s mission. I am dedicated to providing quality and equitable education to prepare our nursing workforce who are clinical competent, diverse, and leaders.  My expertise in nursing education, locally and internationally, and experience in various leadership roles will lend itself to upholding the CCNW mission and supporting the important initiatives that are underway to create a diverse and sustainable nursing workforce for Connecticut.

Deborah Ullman is a highly engaged community volunteer.  Her career includes extensive experience in both the corporate and nonprofit sectors.  Her corporate career included senior management roles in financial services.  In her encore career, she served as CEO of the YWCA Hartford Region for 13 years.  Since retirement, Deborah continues to serve on several boards including human services and arts and culture.
As a Board member, how can you contribute to the mission of CCNW which is to foster collaborations to ensure a highly educated, diverse, and sustainable nursing workforce to support the healthcare needs of CT residents? 

​During my tenure at the YWCA, I was deeply involved with workforce development in supporting women with families as they sought careers in healthcare.  These were women of diverse backgrounds who were not traditional students and faced many financial and personal hurdles to their goal of becoming a nurse while supporting their families.

Lisa J. Sundean, PhD, MHA, RN is a senior advisor for the Future of Nursing: Campaign for Action. She is an Assistant Professor at Fairfield University Egan School of Nursing and Health Studies and director of the Healthcare Administration Program. Her research and scholarship focus on nursing leadership, specifically in board leadership roles, health policy, and nursing workforce development. She is a national research leader with the Nurses on Boards Coalition, Board Chair of The Connecticut Center for Nursing Workforce, member of the Government Affairs Committee with the Organization of Nurse Leaders MA, RI, NH, CT, VT; an external member of the Board Quality Improvement Committee at Connecticut Children’s Medical Center, and former director of the Connecticut Nursing Collaborative-Action Coalition. With memberships in multiple national nursing organizations, Lisa is a fellow in the New York Academy of Medicine, recipient of the Daisy Foundation Award for Extraordinary Nurse Faculty, a Jonas Leadership Scholar Alumna, and a member of Sigma. Lisa earned her PhD in Nursing from the University of Connecticut.
As a Board member, how can you contribute to the mission of CCNW which is to foster collaborations to ensure a highly educated, diverse, and sustainable nursing workforce to support the healthcare needs of CT residents? 
​
I recognize that a strong, diverse, well qualified, and sustainable nursing workforce is a key contributor to health for communities and populations. As a Registered Nurse, I know the impact of nursing knowledge and care on individuals and families. I serve on the Board of The Connecticut Center for Nursing Workforce (CCNW) because it brings a committed voice and action to healthcare through nurses and nurse leadership. CCNW is a driving force in Connecticut and nationally for nursing workforce education innovations, to understanding nursing workforce data, and to using those data to develop a sustainable nursing pipeline for the future. I am committed to healthcare. I am committed to the nursing workforce. I am committed to CCNW and that is why I am honored to serve on the Board of Directors.

Cathy is an accomplished hospital executive with 23 years of progressive leadership experience in complex health systems including multiple hospitals across several states. Passionate, highly engaged leader with expertise driving performance improvement. Holds a Doctorate in Nursing Practice from Sacred Heart University and is currently employed by Prospect Medical as their Chief Nursing Officer and Chief Quality Officer. ​
As a Board member, how can you contribute to the mission of CCNW which is to foster collaborations to ensure a highly educated, diverse, and sustainable nursing workforce to support the healthcare needs of CT residents? 

As a board member, I believe I contribute to the mission by representing the hospital segment of the industry. The bridge between academia and hospital practice has been challenging in the past and I feel that my years of experience in our hospitals in CT allows me to appropriately represent that population of nursing and collaborate and advocate on their behalf.

Dr. Mary Salisbury is a board certified psychiatric mental health nurse practitioner with a doctorate of nursing practice. Throughout her career she has served the adult outpatient psychiatric population, with a focus on young adults, adults with schizophrenia, and individuals with opioid use disorders. She completed her Bachelor of Science in Nursing at the University of Connecticut and Masters of Science in Nursing and Doctorate of Nursing Practice at the University of Saint Joseph. In addition to her years of direct patient service, she has mentored and precepted numerous APRN students. She is the program director for three MSN programs at Goodwin University. She is passionate about continued education and promotion of students and peers to amplify the profession. 
As a Board member, how can you contribute to the mission of CCNW which is to foster collaborations to ensure a highly educated, diverse, and sustainable nursing workforce to support the healthcare needs of CT residents? 

As a PMHNP with over 9 years of experience working in the outpatient psychiatric arena both in private practice and for a local mental health authority along with my experience as program director of three masters nursing tracks at Goodwin University, I bring a variety of experiences that will serve as a voice to foster the mission of the Connecticut Center for Nursing Workforce.
